Romero Welcome Walk - no one should ever have to walk alone
The Romero Centre Welcome Walk is an event to support people seeking asylum through raising vital funds and awareness. It highlights the thousands of long, exhausting and dangerous journeys that people have taken to flee war, political or religious persecution to seek safety and protection in  Australia. It will honour and respect people’s right to a safe refuge and people’s right to be welcoming and humane.

The centre was born 20 years ago and has been the sanctuary for people seeking asylum who need support wit basic needs such as food and accommodation, legal rights, language skills, employment pathways and  community connections. Hundreds of people will come together on 20 June in an act of solidarity to express a welcoming spirit to people seeking asylum and acknowledging that no one should ever have to walk alone in their quest for safety and security.
